Access Theatre Now!

Ages: Flexible

This class gives students with physical, emotional, learning and developmental disabilities an opportunity to gain self-esteem, improve social and communication skills and explore new modes of self-expression – all in a non-competitive, structured atmosphere. Each session will culminate in an open classroom highlighting the individual talents of all involved. Support staff is welcome. No previous experience necessary. Limit 12 students.

Cost: $90 per session
7 instructional hours

Session I: September 6 – October 18
Session II: October 25 – December 13 (no class Nov 22)
Session III: January 10 – February 21
Session IV: March 13 – May 1 (no class Apr 3)

Apex Players (APEX) SESSION 2 FULL

Ages: 10 – 13

This performance class is for the serious actor who is willing to work on character development, relationships on stage and memorization. Students will learn bold choice-making and teamwork as they are cast in a bare-bones production of The Princess and the Princess by Colleen Neuman. See what happens when a poor polite princess and a rich rude princess meet on a narrow mountain path. Join in the fun when guards, generals and soldiers are called to the rescue. No experience necessary. Limit 12 students.

January 11 – April 18 (no class April 4)
Performance will be held on April 18 at 5pm.

Hilarious Homeschoolers (APEX)

Ages: 8 – 13

Students will explore story dramatization with emphasis on group work and improvisation. There will be a “Sharing” for family and friends on the last day of class. No experience necessary. Raleigh Little Theatre instructs. Limited to 12 participants.

Acting Out

Ages: 10 – 11

Class focus: Students are introduced to basic acting skills and vocal training through the development of believable characters in improvised and scripted scenes all in an atmosphere of fun. No previous experience necessary. Limit 18 students.

Cost: $110 per session

Thursday Session III: Pathway to the Stage

January 12 – February 23
The first step on the pathway to the stage is the audition. Once cast there are many steps an actor must take to bring his/her character to life during the rehearsal process. In this scene study class, students will learn techniques such as character development, blocking, character relationships and vocal projection?—?all vital to taking that last big step to opening night!

Thursday Session IV: Act Fast! Improv
4:30 – 6:00 PM
March 15– May 3 (no class April 5)
Learning to think fast is a great life skill. Students will participate in fun improvisation games and exercises designed to promote group problem solving, build self confidence and encourage spontaneity. It’s also a lot of fun!

RLT Homeschool Players To Go! FULL

Ages: 10 – 13

Thursday is show day and homeschoolers are needed to take the show on the road to area schools and track out programs. In this performance class, students will develop acting skills, explore character creation and experience the fun of being part of a traveling ensemble. Entrance is by audition only. Auditions have now been announced.

Cost: $190
20 instructional hours plus 10 tour hours

Students rehearse October to January and perform in January and February.

Audition: Thursday, October 6, 1 – 3 pm

Classes: Thursdays, 1 – 3 pm
October 13 – January 5 (no class Nov 24, Dec 22 or 29)

Preview: January 12
Performances: January 19 – February 16
Performances will be scheduled between 1 and 3 pm.

RLT Players To Go!

Ages: 10 – 13

Places please! It’s show time! In this performance class students will continue to develop their acting skills as they rehearse a show to be performed for families at area libraries. Being part of a trouping ensemble is fun and a great way to grow as an actor. Entrance is by audition only. Check our website in the fall for show details, cast size and audition information.

Cost: $225
25 instructional hours plus 10 tour hours

Students rehearse February to April and perform in April and May.

Audition: Saturday, January 28, 1 – 2:30 pm

Classes: Saturdays, 1 – 3:30 pm
February 4 – April 14 (no class Apr 7)

Preview: April 14 at 4 pm
Performances: April 21 – May 19
Scheduled between 1 and 3 pm.
