Playtime
Age: 5
Class focus: Students will continue to explore and express their own individual creativity in an atmosphere which also promotes the importance of teamwork in bringing a story to life. No previous experience necessary. Limit 12 students.

Ages: 8 – 9
Class focus: Students will continue to explore story dramatization but with more emphasis on group work and improvisation. No previous experience necessary. Limit 18 students.

The first step on the pathway to the stage is the audition. Once cast there are many steps an actor must take to bring his/her character to life during the rehearsal process. In this scene study class, students will learn techniques such as character development, blocking, character relationships and vocal projection?—?all vital to taking that last big step to opening night!

Learning to think fast is a great life skill. Students will participate in fun improvisation games and exercises designed to promote group problem solving, build self confidence and encourage spontaneity. It’s also a lot of fun!

Session III: Improv Scene Work
January 14 – February 25
Students will learn the basics of improv in a fun, safe and encouraging environment. The class will focus on physicality, agreement, having a strong point of view as well as creating and exploring environments within the scene. Student actors will also develop characters and learn how to express their ideas through them. They will learn how to answer questions that actors must ask themselves when working on any scene: Who? What? Where? and Why?

Session IV: Just For Laughs
March 17 – May 12 (no class Mar 31 or Apr 7)
Being funny on stage is not as easy as it looks. Some of our most accomplished actors perform in comedy. It takes training to easily entice audience members to lose themselves in laughter. Using contemporary scenes and monologues, students will practice the art of comedic acting as they explore physical comedy, the set up and the payoff, wit, banter and timing.
